Aretha Franklin Says Health Problems Have 'Been Resolved'

The Queen of Soul is reportedly undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer, according to a series of reports. Most of those reports were unconfirmed, and Franklin has refused to confirm or deny any of them, although at least one Detroit television station attributed the news to one of Franklin's family members.
In an interview with Jet magazine, which Franklin has spoken exclusively to since her health rumors began, she revealed more about the ordeal she's been through. The trouble apparently started during a performance in Toronto last year when Franklin felt "a very hard pain in my side." She figured it was related to a recent colonoscopy and saw a series of doctors, all who told her nothing was wrong. Eventually she called her doctor back in Detroit, who urged her to return home immediately for testing. "Thank God he said that because that unfolded everything, what the problem was and everything," she told Jet.
She declined, however, to divulge details of her illness and treatment, and chastised the continuing search for news and gossip about her health. "There are a lot of people who will talk about anything, as long as there is somebody listening," she said. "But I am not one of those people. That's not Aretha."
In the interview, she also thanked her fans -- who held vigils in Detroit and several other cities last month -- for their support and prayers, and asked them to "continue to respect my privacy as I continue to recover."
In December, Franklin canceled all of her performances through May of this year. None have been rescheduled.

Ms. Franklin I had a dream about you last night. I dreamed you were singing and dancing praising God. The song you were singing is not one that I've ever heard before but when I woke up I wrote the lyrics down. The song was rather churchy...Entitled "The Song of the Free".. The dream was soo real, you were the picture of health just singing this song and praising God in dance.

Aretha you define soul music for me. Your songs and delivery have made me cry all the way to jump for joy and shake my booty!!! My wife and I named our wonderful doggie after you because when she was very very young she howled and it sounded like you doing your Whoaooo Whoaooo. I'm almost 64 years old and remember the first time I saw you when I was a college freshman...it was love at first sight. You make me feel like a natural man and a true soulmate! I've been praying for you. I know it's selfish but I pray you'll be around for us to hear that magnificient voice a while longer. My grandkids still need to hear it to broaden their education in music. Take care of yourself and do what the doctors tell you. And pray.

I know you don't know who I am, and I won't press the issue! Nevertheless, my Aunt Allie Mattie Franklin was a native of, where me and my 6 siblings (De Witts & Combs) were also born, in El Centro, CA. Your Dad visited her right before I visited her, in 1975. Interestingly, I'm also musically inclined as well as my youngest baby girl, Champagne DeWitt.
