With a late-November tweet to friend, frontman Julian Casablancas -- perhaps inadvertently, perhaps not -- unveiled that the Strokes fourth album, and first in four years, is finished. Following mixing, Casablancas' tweet indicated the much-anticipated record would arrive in "a few months."

In September, it was revealed via Modern Drummer magazine that producer/drummer Charley Drayton was recruited to co-produce and mix Apple's new album. It will be the singer-songwriter-pianist's first new full-length in six years and just her fourth in her 15-year recording career.

"It's not a guitar-based record," Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard told Spin in late October as his band was finishing up its seventh full-length. Influenced by Brian Eno's 'Another Green World,' the album was recorded in Los Angeles, Vancouver, San Francisco and Seattle. "I'm so proud of this album that at this point I don't care if people don't like it," Gibbard says.

Vivian Girls
'Share the Joy,' Spring
Not much is yet known about Vivian Girls' third long-player and Polyvinyl debut, but guitarist and frontwoman Cassie Ramone told Verbicide that fans should expect more than just a record-label change. "In the past I was reluctant to add guitar overdubs just because I didn't want it to sound way emptier live than on record," Ramone said. "I think we're probably going to do a little more of that on this next album. We're probably going to put in some organ."

As a follow-up to his infectious batch of naughty garage 7-inches, 'Gay Singles,' Hunx (born Seth Bogart) recruited an all-girl band known as the Punkettes. After some songwriting and a European tour, the crew recorded Hunx & His Punx's first proper full-length record, which found the band a new label home in Hardly Art.

Recorded in Berlin, New Orleans and Nashville with producer Jackknife Lee (U2, Weezer, The Cars), the latest from Michael Stipe & his R.E.M. cohorts features guest appearances from Patti Smith, Peaches and Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder. As you might expect from that guest list, Mike Mills tells Spin, "There are some really slow, beautiful songs; there are some nice, mid-tempo ones; and then there are three or four rockers."

I don't see any mention of Lukas Rossi. He won Rockstar Supernova a few years ago. He is sooo amazing on his own with dynamic music. He had an awesome cd "Hollywood" last year and more coming for 2011.

This list must have been made by the same people that vote for the RNR HOF. Not an artist on it that's worth a hoot. They go on about "50 records that will rock 2011" and then 3/4ths for them are acts you've never heard of, and for good reason.
