"We're having trouble getting Joe," Tyler told Rolling Stone. "I don't know where he is, but just come down to L.A. at the end of January sometime. I've had enough downtime."
Tyler said he's been able to round up the other Aerosmith members including drummer Joey Kramer, who had hopes to make "an old-school Aerosmith record," as Spinner previously reported.
A few years ago, Perry and Tyler tried getting back into the studio to work on a follow-up to 2001's 'Just Push Play,' but they soon left the project due to internal strife. Tyler claimed that he and Perry have "been brothers forever" and that the Aerosmith guitarist is "just going through his thing."
Despite all the problems, Tyler is hopeful that two will be able to work together again. "We just have to get together and put the s--- together," he said. "That's all. We're all musicians, and what does that say for itself? We're like peripheral visionaries. We don't see what's in front of us more often than not. We see what's off to the sides. I just need to get them all together and put it together to be a band that is. That's all."
As with anything relating the future of Aerosmith, expect plenty of more media coverage before any concrete plans are announced.
