Pretty Lights Forms Record Label, Offers Free EPs

It's not enough that Pretty Lights' Derek Vincent Smith gave away millions of downloads of his EPs last year -- now, the electronic DJ wiz-kid wants to give away other people's music as well. To do so, Smith formed Pretty Lights Music, a record label with the objective of giving away free music to fans of electronic dance music, by artists handpicked by Smith himself.

The new label has announced its first two releases of 2011: free EPs from Break Science ('Further Than Our Eyes Can See') and Paper Diamond ('Levitate'). Both acts are helmed by musicians that Smith is no stranger to -- Break Science is anchored by Pretty Lights' own touring drummer, Adam Deitch. And Paper Diamond is the new moniker for Colorado beat-maker Alex B., who has shared many a bill with Pretty Lights in the past.
