Ben Gibbard Solo Set, Yo La Tengo to Highlight Noise Pop 2011

Austin has SXSW, New York has CMJ and San Francisco has Noise Pop. The lesser known of those citywide music conferences, Noise Pop is a spiraling six-day celebration of indie artists, music and culture that takes place throughout various San Francisco music venues, cinema houses and boutiques every February.

Conference organizers announced the preliminary lineup of artists for the 2011 edition on Friday and, topping the list, is a special solo set by Ben Gibbard who will perform songs from his bands Death Cab for Cutie and Postal Service. That show, to be held at the storied Great American Music Hall, will feature a special opening set by Rogue Wave frontman Zach Rogue, who, like Gibbard, will appear sans band. Other main draws include Yo La Tengo, Wavves, Best Coast, Alexi Murdoch and hip-hop maverick Peanut Butter Wolf.

Now in its 19th year, Noise Pop 2011 is scheduled to take place from Feb. 22 to Feb. 27. For full details, including the complete initial lineup and information on purchasing badges, visit the official website.
