There will be four stages of music and, additionally, comedian John Hodgman will host a designated Solid Sound Comedy Cabaret stage. The festival takes place on the textile mill campus of Mass MoCA, which partners with Wilco for the event and which offers 150,000 square feet of art galleries, including 'Kidspace' -- a children's museum within the larger museum. America's largest center for contemporary art, Mass MoCA will expand its gallery hours for the weekend.
Additionally, this year Sonic Sound becomes a little more credible as a rock festival by offering overnight camping at the new Sonic Ground Tent Site. Located just over half a mile from the venue, campers will have a shorter walk to their tents than the typical Bonnaroo attendee.
Three-day passes and single-day "early worm" tickets will be available beginning this Friday, Jan. 21, through the official festival website, Mass MoCA's website and the Mass MoCA box office. Getting one of the limited three-day "early worm" passes? $99.50. Listening to Jeff Tweedy's neurotic stage banter all weekend? Priceless.
