Paul Simon Revisits Early Solo Years on 'So Beautiful or So What'

Set for release in April, 'So Beautiful or So What' is a 10-track effort that focuses on Simon's guitar playing and strong lyrical nous. In a press statement, he admitted to rediscovering a style that he had avoided since the mid-'80s.
"Since 'Graceland,' I've always made the record based on either making the tracks or the percussion first," Simon said. "This time the stimuli was a guitar in my lap. That takes me back to 'Still Crazy After All These Years' or 'Something So Right.'"
Not that Simon has entirely lost his interest in world music rhythms -- 'The Afterlife' has Simon wryly imagining filling in forms to enter the next world over a soca beat.
For a taster, you can hear 'Getting Ready for Christmas Day,' a strident number from the album released last November, here. 'So Beautiful or So What' is out April 11 on Hear Music/Concord Music Group.

From day one.....the Simon and Garfunkel days to present, Paul Simon has always been an icon in the music industry. I have always enjoyed his music, his style, and his endurance throughout the changing music times. Whatever song I hear I am transcended back to those times. Thank you Paul, for many musical memories.

Sounds good to me. He goes back to the late 50's and his brilliance of the 60's & 70's as the other half of Simon & Garfunkel is deeply & fondly etched in our memories. He still sounds great too!
