Robert Pattinson Hoping to Star in Biopic of Jeff Buckley

A biopic in the works on the life of Jeff Buckley could feature actor Robert Pattinson in the lead part. The 'Twilight' star is apparently anxious to secure the role of the 'Last Goodbye' singer, who tragically drowned in 1997 when he was only 30 years old while working on the follow-up to his 1994 debut album 'Grace.'

"Rob is obsessed with this project and is doing everything he can to land the part," a source told the Daily Express. "He has already told his business team this is his passion and they agree it could be the film that makes him a legitimate Oscar contender."

The upcoming film's producer, Michelle Sy, confirmed to the paper that she had met with the 24-year-old Pattinson as well as other actors interested in the role. Sy said that one requirement for the film's leading man is that he be able to perform music "or at least make it believable."

Although auditions have yet to begin, Buckley's mom Mary Guibert reportedly said, "Robert is a fine young actor. I'm flattered he's been linked to this project. When the time comes we'll give everybody an opportunity to be seen and heard."

Pattinson has previously written music for the 'Twilight' films, a fact that may help him edge out his competition, which -- according to a 2009 interview given by Guibert -- includes actors such as Jared Leto, James Franco and James Marsden.

The only 2 actors I follow are Robert and James, because they are both beautiful deep souls...James has proven his acting ability, and Robert will...James may look likme Jeff, but Robert has him beat musically, and would have Jeff down pat, being one of his inspirations...If this is even true, it would take some time in developing and doing, which would make Robert the perfect age, and James maybe too old...If Robert's passion for the part is true also, that could be what does it, for he will wait it out like no one else...

Why does this human get a movie ... he do something great? I have never heard of this human! Which Means I and many others will probably not watch this movie...

Sounds like a great way to throw good money after a bad concept!

Robert Pattinson has played the piano and guitar since the age of three...In time he also became a beautiful singer/songwriter/composer...I became a fan of Robert's, NOT because of Twilight, but because I've met him on several occasions (due to my profession as a nurse, and having been on several movie sets in my career),and he was lovely...I became a fan because of his "other" movies such as, Remember Me & How To Be...I especially became a fan of his music...Robert is such a beautiful person inside and out...He reminds me of Jeff in these ways...Jeff has been an inspiration to Robert, musically...That is why Robert desires this role..."Screw Oscar material", Robert would say, and he would probably do it pro-bono...He is not about the money nor any award, but as you will see, he is about the parts he will hopefully have the opportunity to play, after damn Edward...Everyone started somewhere...ALL the BEST to you ROB!!! i think robert pattinson would do a respectable job, but james franco is the spitting image of jeff buckley, and that's pretty hard to beat.
