Sir Elton John Family Portrait Censored In US

The image features the 63-year-old singer together with his civil partner David Furnish and their new son, Zachary, born via a surrogate on December 25, 2010. One retailer in Mountain Home, Arkansas, a state not known for its tolerance of homosexuality, covered up the picture with a so-called 'family shield' of the kind more normally seen on top shelf titles.
A local woman, Jennifer Huddleston, saw the censored magazine in a Harps grocery store and posted a photo on Twitter, reports Contact Music. Gay and lesbian groups have reacted angily to the incident. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Harps said that the move came in response to a number of customer complaints, but that it was "in no way our opinion on this issue." They added, "We do not have an opinion on this issue."
Thus far, Sir Elton has maintained a dignified silence on the matter.

in my opinion we are all human and it doesnt matter if your gay or of a different race we all were created by the same creator and people have a right to live their lives as they choose as long as it doesnt hurt another in any way

Thank you for clarifying that this happened in Arkansas - not all of the U.S. Not everyone is as backward as that here in America. I couldn't believe that these places still exists... I guess I need to remember, ignorance is taught.

What a misleading title.."censored in US"
I guess "Sir Elton John Family Portrait Censored in one store, in a small town, in a very conservative part of the United States" didn't have the same ring to it.
I live in a neighboring state, and the magazine is on display as normal. Americans, as a whole, are not that intolerant.
