Fleet Foxes Unveil Details and Title Track for Second Album

The bearded wonders have also made the title track available for free download from their official web site. The five minutes of 'Helplessness Blues' takes off where the likes of 'Winter Hymnal' left off: it begins as an intimate acoustic reverie before harmonies join in that hint at wider, wilder expanses.
In a statement, the Seattle-based group's UK label -- Bella Union -- explained the 12-track album was recorded over the course of a year. Fleet Foxes co-produced the album with regular collaborator Phil Ek at a variety of studios in and around their home city.
The release coincides with the band's first North American tour since August 2009, to be followed by a string of European dates that include one UK gig -- Hammersmith Apollo, on May 31. Tickets for that go on sale Feb. 4.
Three years ago, their debut reached No. 3 in the UK album charts and was voted album of the year by Mojo magazine and The Times newspaper. While its cover was decorated with a painting by Dutch old master Bruegel the Elder, for 'Helplessness Blues' the band has turned to contemporary artists Toby Liebowitz and Chris Alderson. The cover art can also be seen on the band's site.
