Mick Jagger to Perform at Grammys, Stones Deny 50th Anniversary Tour Plans

Mick Jagger will perform at this year's Grammy Awards for the first time in his 50-year career. The Rolling Stones frontman will appear alongside soul man Raphael Saadiq as part of a tribute to the late soul legend Solomon Burke, who died in 2010.

"We're thrilled, delighted, excited and very much looking forward to Mick doing his debut on the Grammy stage," Neil Portnow, president and CEO of the Recording Academy said in a statement. "It's extraordinary to many of us that the fact is, this will be the first time; he has never performed on the Grammy stage."

Jagger was last seen on the Grammy Awards when the Rolling Stones were given a lifetime achievement award. For that broadcast, the band performed via satellite from London.

On a related note, the band has responded to news of a reported 50th anniversary tour, which came to light via a pair of lawsuits between Live Nation and former employee Michael Cohl. "The Stones confirmed today they have no firm plans to tour at this time," a spokesperson announced. "Following the end of the 2007 A Bigger Bang world tour the Rolling Stones became free from any contractual arrangements or agreements with Michael Cohl. He is neither their representative nor their tour promoter."

The Grammy Awards air on CBS on Feb. 13 at 8PM ET.

Glad Grammy's chose at least one of the Stone's members to memorialize Mr. Burke. My big Blues guy was Bo Diddley- (last time was live- at Ziggy's in Winston-Salem,NC (Jan.04, I think that was the year) but Mr. Burke,I know was a huge influence for the Stones. May he RIP. (thanks Spinner for the total Stones pkg salute) Just wish all bandmates might play- 02.13.
