"The other day, a friend of mine, who's around my age or a little older, says, 'Have you thought about retiring? When are you gonna retire?'" Schmit tells Spinner. "The concept is absurd to me. I was shocked at the question. I felt like saying, 'Are you nuts? What are you talking about? What am I gonna do -- sit on the couch and eat Bon Bons and watch TV? I don't want to do that.' I want to go on as long as I can and there's quite a bit of that left."
At age 63, Schmit feels like he's hitting another level creatively with his current solo album, 'Expando.' "What this album showed me is I started to scratch the surface of some really good s--- here," he says. "I felt like I was discovering some new stuff and I actually was reaching a little deeper maybe to come up with the good stuff. I think 'Expando' is really my best work so far, and I always thought that 'Friday Night' was more of a single than any of the others."
With the help of director Zach Hudson and his father Bill, a member of the Hudson Brothers band, Schmit has put together a sweet, relaxing video for 'Friday Night' that, in his opinion, reflects the nature of the song. "The video, it's really good and I really like it," he says "It's really well done. It's a pretty hopeful and happy 'take some time out' kind of song. That's what I wanted."

When you are making a living doing something that you really love, who even thinks about retiring. I hope Timothy keeps making music for decades to come. I have almost all of his solo projects and even saw him at The Bitter End.

Amen Timothy. The creative community does not understand the concept of retirement. We do what we love.. Why would we stop?
for a minute I thought you were at Skyline Studios in Topanga because of the stoned wall...but I guess stoned walls are popular everywhere amoung Cavemen...ha hah..
all the best,
Bob
Expando is a wonderful compilation of songs Timothy, so please don't even think about retiring! When are you coming to Canada, more specifically, Ontario? Would love to hear you live, particularly after seeing the video version of "Friday Night".

As long as you can do the things you love to do and you feel young at heart, doesn't matter what people say or think. People older than you still in the business. Keep doing your music Timothy, you still doing it very well and your fans love it.

Too bad more men don't possess your insight, sensitivity and passion that you so rightly display in this great song and video, Timothy. Maybe after watching this video, or listening to the words of your song, some of them will get the hint. Thank you.
