Encompassing the group's most beloved material, including 'The Soft Bulletin,' 'Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots,' 'Hit to Death in the Future Head,' 'Transmissions From the Satellite Heart' and 'Clouds Taste Metallic,' the set is only missing the four-disc freak-out of 1997's 'Zaireeka.' That mind-trip won't be lost, though, as the band is revamping the album as a mobile phone app for release later this year.
For this set, the Lips are preparing two versions. The "Standard" package gets you all five records on beautiful 140-gram vinyl, while the "Special Limited Edition" gets you all five albums on vinyl with five distinct colors. While the group and its management didn't provide a number on how many copies of each edition would be available, they warned fans that "once they are gone, they are GONE, so don't delay; these will sell out."
The release kickstarts a busy year for the Lips, as Wayne Coyne and company will be hitting the road throughout 2011 and many shows will feature a full performance of the group's classic album 'The Soft Bulletin.'
