"We reached $15,000 in less than a week! You are truly, simply incredibly!!" wrote director P. David Ebersole and producers Todd Hughes and Christina Soletti on the documentary's fundraising site. "We are setting a secondary goal of $25,000. In order to finish this project, we will need a total of $40,000. So thanks to you, we are so much closer!"
A post on the Facebook page for the film, entitled 'Hit So Hard: The Life and Near-Death Story of Drummer Patty Schemel,' thanks Perry for her contribution which put the total over the original goal. As well, various other artists have donated gifts and packages to help raise funds, including Melissa Auf Der Maur, who offered a "mystery grab bag" for a pledge of $75 or more and Redd Kross, who promised a "rare vinyl pack" for a pledge of $250 or more.
The documentary features hours of unseen grunge-era band footage, and reportedly includes clips and interviews with Schemel, her family, Auf Der Maur, Eric Erlandson, Courtney Love, Kurt Cobain, Veruca Salt's Nina Gordon and Luscious Jackson drummer Kate Schellenbach.
A release date has not yet been announced.
