'Hello,' Martin Solveig
Enter an attractive young woman swinging toward a strawberry, followed by a moped caravan around a fountain; and then for good measure, throw in an orange fight. With this kind of action unfolding in a chewing gum commercial, there needs to be some peppy music in the background. Thankfully, such a song is provided for the latest Trident gum commercial courtesy of French DJ Martin Solveig and his 2010 hit featuring Dragonette, 'Hello.'
The song was enlisted into Trident's campaign to promote its new Vitality line of chewing gum, which, according to the commercial, is loaded with flavor and nutrients such as white tea and ginseng. The 'Hello' Trident spot has rapidly made its way around the major US television networks in both primetime and late night.
"During the last couple of months, I've been very busy chewing gum and working in the studio on the next album," Solveig told Spinner, "so I wasn't that surprised when we were contacted by Trident."
'Hello' is the first single from Solveig's forthcoming album, 'Smash,' and, according to the DJ, it introduces a new concept of music presentation.
"'Smash' is not only music, it's a combination of a story, videos and music," he explains.
The release date of 'Smash' is yet to be determined, but thanks to Trident, as well as an ad for Cellular South, Solveig's work is making progress in penetrating American pop culture.
