STS9 Bassist Makes 'Inspiring' Recovery From Cancer, Band Returns to Road

Welcome back, STS9 (aka Sound Tribe Sector 9)! Oh, the band wasn't gone for long, but following January's announcement that bassist David Murphy (pictured) had cancer, fans were unsure just how long it would be before they performed live again. The band had cleared their schedule, cancelled their tour dates and allowed Murphy to focus on his surgery and subsequent recovery. Many fans had been bracing for a full year off, so this news is welcome relief. It also means that Murphy is healthy again.

"Simply put and to the point, David Murphy's recovery has been nothing short of amazing, inspiring and impassioned," reads a statement on STS9's official website. "With that, we are pleased to announce that STS9 will hit the road."

Thrilling news whether you're a fan or not. But especially if you're a fan. STS9 will make their triumphant return at Ultra Music Festival in Miami on Sat., March 26. The band will then return to the road, proper, on April 20 for a two-night stand in Athens, Ga., followed by a second two-night stand in St. Louis, Mo. beginning on April 22. And as if to punctuate their return, STS9 have also confirmed festival appearances at this summer's Summer Camp, Wakarusa and Bonnaroo. Happily, there's more to come.
