Sir Paul McCartney 'Helter Skelter' Video Exclusive

Sir Paul, who didn't attend the ceremony, described how he heard the result. "It was a big surprise to me that came at the end of Valentine's Day eve after we'd just got away from the BAFTA's aftershow party. I got a text saying 'You won the Grammy.'"
He continued, "It was brilliant. Even though I couldn't be there this year it was extremely exciting to get the news late at night -- we all went wild!"
The video sees Sir Paul on fine form. Flanked and dwarfed by two massive screens, Sir Paul asks the sold-out crowd, "Why am I getting the feeling you want to rock some more?" before launching into a particularly blistering version of the song.

Hey, Charlie,
Go deprive somebody of their health care, give rich people a tax break they don't need or bust a union of middle class public employees. Leave Paul out of it, you slimey right wing extremist bastard. I wonder what happened to, "I got blisters on my fingers" during the performance?
For a truly dangerous "Helter Skelter," the geezer should play it without his false teeth.
"..tuh th' toppashly an' uh shee yuhg,n! Eah eah eah,"
Siouxsie and the Banshee's version was better than the original, in my opinion...great song, though.

I'm sick of hearing how good he is when many of his songs are one-versed with multiple repeat after repeat to pad out the playing time. With the Beatles, he was half-talented, without them he is half-witted.
February 20 2011 at 12:20 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI have always loved the Beatles and Paul Mccartney even more today. I am 57
and I still wish Linda was with Paul. They were truly an example for what
marriage was for them. they worked at it
Firstly, Paul McCartney penned Helter Skelter. Secondly, Referring to John Lennon as a "swine" is British humour and is not meant to be taken as derogatory. A bit of a lad or such.
February 19 2011 at 5:16 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyFirst off, titles like "sir" are not given or should be used in the united states. The founders of this country found it so offensive, as i believe anyone should, that it is specifically mentioned.
Second, after referring to John Lennon as a swine I hope "sir paul" chokes on the award so obviously penned by Mr, Lennon.
Don't be so darn provencial, were you raised in a barn? He has earned the 'Sir'; you have little chance of emulating him.

February 19 2011 at 3:02 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyDid you ever listen to the Beatles music on Ed Sullivan? They weren't that good, they were just kids. Their music producers made them what they went on to be. Paul McCartney knows this. A grammy; what's that? Just another gimmick to make more money even though there's no talent involved. How good could he be at 21 years old? It takes years of experience to become a good guitarist. He didn't have it back then but they had a good music producer.

I've seen the Ed Sullivan clips and the songs then were better than anything available at the time, and better than anything since save perhaps the Beatles' own music. First off, by the time they arrived in the USA McCartney played bass with the Beatles, not guitar, and was and is an outstanding bass player. Second, the Beatles did have good music producers (at least you got that right), but if you think a producer can make any band the biggest selling recording act ever without a whole heap of songwriting talent, I have a little white suit for you.
