Pete Doherty Self-Portrait Blood Painting for Sale by Fan

What's better than getting an autograph from one of your favorite musicians? Getting an original blood painting. It's also a whole lot more valuable. Like, to the tune of $40,580. That's roughly the asking price (converted from British pounds) that a lucky fan-in-need is asking for his one-of-a-kind Pete Doherty artwork.

NME reports that the fan, known as Alistair, approached Doherty, after a gig last year in Manchester, England asking if the Libertines and Babyshambles frontman could help him raise some funds. Doherty offered to send him some petty cash (around $30) and a blood painting. He made good on one of those two things -- Doherty actually sent the fan a 32"x32" self-portrait. The original blood painting was signed, "For Alistair, love Peter."

The price tag is about on-par with previous sales of Doherty's blood paintings. Click here if you're interested in buying the bloody piece of artwork or if you want to peep an image of it.
