Dressed head-to-toe in black and wearing revealing stockings, Tamaryn kept a poker face and didn't utter a single word to the audience throughout her hour-long set but instead opted to get lost in her self-made zone of dream pop. Throughout nine songs, she closed her eyes and let her long, static hair fall into her face while her bandmates generated shoegaze proclivities.
Projected images splattered across the band on the melodic opener 'Sandstone,' but since the sound was slightly off, Tamaryn's vocals echoed to a muddled degree. After asking for her vocals to be turned up, Tamaryn's lyrics finally sounded more audible by the fourth song.
During 'The Waves,' she came up close to the head-nodding audience and sucked them into her world and they reciprocated by yelling approvals like, "F-- yeah, Tamaryn!' Near the end of the set, Tamaryn slowed things down on 'Haze Interior,' which enabled the band to forgo blasting noise for a diminished rat-a-tat sound of the high-hat.
For the final song of the night, the band accelerated allowing their instruments to blare noise without inhibitions. Once the song ended, Tamaryn and her band jumped off stage, walked away without saying anything and didn't come back for an encore, which augmented the unattainability and detachment of cooly aloof Tamaryn. Maybe the mystery will be decoded this spring when the band set out on a tour with another shrouded in black, noise team, the Raveonettes.
