Mick Jagger Reunites With Dave Stewart for Solo Record

As fans speculate on the future of the Rolling Stones, lead singer Mick Jagger is apparently busy working on new solo material.

In an interview with a Portuguese television station, which aired March 1, Jagger's brother Chris Jagger revealed that the musician is working on his own project. "He's doing a record at the moment in Los Angeles with Dave Stewart, he called me last night telling me what he was doing," Chris Jagger said. "So he keeps in touch."

Neither artist's official websites make mention of the collaboration, but Jagger and Stewart have worked together previously. In 2004, the duo recorded three original songs which appeared on the soundtrack for the Jude Law movie 'Alfie.' In 1987, Stewart was one of the co-producers on Jagger's solo album 'Primitive Cool' and co-wrote three songs: 'Let's Work,' 'Say You Will' and 'Kow Tow.'

Jagger -- who released his last solo studio album 'Goddess In the Doorway' in 2001 -- performed at this year's Grammy Awards to honour the late Solomon Burke.

Meanwhile, Stewart just finished working with Joss Stone on her upcoming studio album. "Wow just finished writing 10 songs with Joss Stone for her new album," Stewart wrote on his site on Feb. 23. "She is so talented and funny as hell."

As for the Stones, reports last year of a possible 2011 tour were denied by the group. In 2010, the band released a reissue of their classic 'Exile On Main St.' album, with new bonus tracks, including 'Plundered My Soul.' The Rolling Stones last studio album was 2005's 'A Bigger Bang.'

This will be only his 5th solo CD, Since 1985. I think the Stones will do 1 more CD, possibly tour, and call it a day in 2013.

Jagger has done sole stuff on a number of previous occasions, and all of it was strictly for completists. In any case, I'm old enough to remember reading an interview where he said "I don't want to be doing this when I'm thirty."
