Zeus Working on New Album: 'We're Popping in the Euroslice'

After winning the Album of the Year honour at this week's Verge Music Awards, Zeus have something to offer fans beyond their appreciation. The Toronto four-piece have plans to release the follow-up to their critically acclaimed 'Say Us' within the "time frame of seven months."

"We've got more material," singer and guitarist Carlin Nicholson tells Spinner. "You can expect a lot more material from Zeus in the next two years, a lot more -- three singles in between records, we've got a full-length coming in October or September, or something like that."

Still basking in the glow of their win, which includes a $25,000 cash prize, the band admit that they were "totally surprised" with the night's turn of events, and despite the success of 2010, this year is already shaping up to be their biggest yet.

"As Carlin said, there's a lot more material to expect," confirms member Neil Quin. "We're pulling a lot of songs that have been in hiding for a while out of the closet. 'We're popping in the Euroslice,' according to [our friend from Broken Social Scene] Kevin Drew."

According to the band, fans have to be patient to learn what the heck that means as it's too soon to reveal the meaning behind Drew's cryptic comment.

"It's up to the listeners' discretion to find out what that means," maintains Quin. "But honestly, there's a lot of new songs that have been written, there's a lot of old guys we're bringing out, and it just amounts to a surprising amount of material..."
