The National Debut 'Conversation 16' Video With Kristen Schaal and John Slattery

Following the New Pornographers' 'Moves' and the Black Keys' 'Howlin' for You,' the National have tapped an excellent cast and an odd, funny concept for their 'Conversation 16' video, which premiered on MTV.

Featuring the always-excellent Kristen Schaal -- who also came up with the concept with a fellow 'Daily Show' scribe -- as a jaded President of the United States and 'Mad Men' star John Slattery as the Secret Service agent who loves her, the video has very little to do with the song. Rather than literally eating brains as he sings about on the 'High Violet' cut, National frontman Matt Berninger plays Slattery's partner and his only "acting" is a shocked look when Schaal shows off a Presidential thong. The National's Dessner twins also show up as the aides to the Russian President, who is played with an amazing flair by James Urbaniak.

Check out the clip, which was directed by Scott Jacobson, below. The National have tour dates booked through August, including a few shows with Arcade Fire and a stop at Coachella.
