Thurston Moore's Beck-Produced Solo Album to Drop in May

After a few months of being in the studio, Thurston Moore will be releasing 'Demolished Thoughts,' the follow-up to 2007's 'Trees Outside the Academy,' on May 24, the Matador Records official site announced.

As Spinner previously reported, the Sonic Youth frontman enlisted Beck to produce the record, his first solo effort with Matador Records.

Besides being at the mixing board, Beck also lent his vocals and played on a few tracks on 'Demolished Thoughts,' which was previously called 'Benediction.' Recorded in Los Angeles and Northampton, Mass., last year, the record also includes the help of bassist Bram Inscore, drummer Joey Waronker, harpist Mary Lattimore (who worked with Kurt Vile) and violinist Samara Lubelski, who has played with Moore on tour and on his prior recordings.

In December, Moore spoke with the Philadelphia Weekly about his collaboration with the 'Where It's At' singer. "Beck sings and plays a little bit on it," he said. "Samara and Mary both play on it quite extensively and very, very beautifully. Beck really put them through the paces."
