NME reports that the Foo Fighters' Record Store Day offering will be a new full-length album, entitled 'Medium Rare,' which will consist entirely of covers. Among the selections are such unexpected left-fielders as the Zombies' 'This Will Be Our Year' and Cream's 'I Feel Free.' Also included are a surprising bunch of covers that the Fighters have been known to perform live before -- 'Band on the Run' (Paul McCartney & Wings), 'Darling Nikki' (Prince), 'Have a Cigar' (Pink Floyd).
Rounding out the unexpected treat of an album are selections from Joe Walsh ('Life of Illusion'), Thin Lizzy ('Bad Reputation'), Gary Numan ('Down in the Park'), the Ramones ('Danny Says'), Husker Du ('Never Talking to You Again'), and Angry Samoans ('Gas Chamber'). Finally, the album also includes a cover of Mose Allison's 'Young Man Blues' -- a tune that was first made famous by the Who and which the Foo Fighters performed onstage in February, with Who frontman Roger Daltrey, at the Shockwave NME Awards. That about covers it -- check out Record Store Day website to find a participating record store near you.
