Bryan Adams to Become Father, Thanks Fans for 'Kind Wishes'

Bryan Adams is going to be a father for the first time, US Weekly reports.

The 51-year-old Canadian-born rocker and his personal assistant Alicia Grimaldi are expecting their first child this May.

"She [helped] me start my foundation years ago and it looks like she'll be running the family now!" Adams wrote on his personal website March 13.

The Bryan Adams Foundation was established in 2006 after a tsunami hit southern Asian. The organization has since provided sun protection for those in Bequia and donated funds to help the flood victims in Pakistan last year, it has also supported Covenant House, who work with homeless youth in Adam's former stomping ground, Vancouver, BC.

The award-winning musician -- who inspired an entire generation with hits like 'Cuts Like a Knife' and 'Summer of '69' before securing his place in the rock cannon with more adult contemporary selections like 'All for One' -- also thanked fans on Twitter for the "kind wishes."

He made sure to point out, though, the initial report stating a baby was on the way was "sort of correct (except for the 'friend' bit)," taking a jab at the person the paper called his "neighbour and friend" who leaked the story to the media.

Adams is currently touring the US and will be playing Wilmington, Del., tonight. He will close his acoustic US tour April 16 in Seattle before gearing up for a string of European shows starting June 4 in the Netherlands.
