Death Set Discuss Ditching Their Lo-Fi Roots at SXSW

Neatly coinciding with the March 15th release of their new album 'Michel Poiccard,' Australian trio the Death Set have been bringing their spastic punk rock energy to crowds at this year's SXSW. It has been a whirlwind week for the band, who arrived in Austin on half an hour of sleep and a bottle of vodka, but the guys managed to find time to stop by our studio for a chat after a much-buzzed-about performance.

"It's been a crazy time," frontman Johnny Siera told Spinner of the festivities around the album release. "It's a different record for us ... we didn't want to be a lo-fi band anymore. Not that I don't like lo-fi music, it's just that we didn't want to be put in that sort of category. It seems like it's a little saturated."
