Close. On Tuesday, they announced a tiny little summer tour of ultra-cool, handpicked North American theaters to showcase their new material. That's a pretty characteristic My Morning Jacket move, by the way -- and one of the many reasons we love them.
The new dates begin with a six-show run that kicks off at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago on June 17, hits the newly-infamous Fox Theatre in Oakland, Calif. on June 24, and wraps at the Orpheum in Vancouver on June 29. The other cities include Los Angeles (June 22), Seattle (June 26) and Portland (June 28). Also announced: a weekend run in Canada -- namely, Toronto and Montreal -- on July 11 and 12, respectively. Finally, the band will perform a special show at the legendary Red Rocks in Morrison, Colo. on Aug. 4. But wait -- there's more: they just haven't been announced yet.
In the meantime, fans can take advantage of the band's incessant generosity by downloading a series of free downloads from their Terminal 5 residency in New York last October -- followed by a track from the upcoming album. Of course, you have to visit My Morning Jacket's official website to get in on that one, so get on it.
