Ware -- along with other original member Ian Craig Marsh -- left the synth-pop pioneers to form Heaven 17 with singer Glenn Gregory.
"I've been in contact with Martyn Ware recently but it wouldn't be a Human League collaboration because he can't be part of the Human League again," Oakey tells Spinner. "We could try to work together again and see if we're of the same mind. I might be interested to kick some ideas around with Martyn and see what's happening."
Musing over the possibility of making music together for the first time in three decades, Oakey is at pains to point out that there are caveats attached.
"We might just have a go," he says, "but we'd have to have the same aims and mine are so arcane like the thing that, 'It must only be synths and drum machines!' and it's such an odd set of rules and when I break them it's alright but not if it's anybody else."
Whether anything is likely to happen is a moot point but the prospect of Oakey and Ware coming together again is certainly tantalising.

They already have a non-Human League name to work with - they released a single as "The Men" a long, long time ago. It would be kind of apt as the girls wouldn't be involved.
