Having turned 40 last year,
Kevin Smith can finally fess up to a secret. "For most of my 30s I had to deny Sting, and it hurt me inside," the actor-turned-director tells Spinner. "Now that I'm 40, now I can openly say, 'I like Sting' without people going, 'Oh, you sellout.'" What is it about the former
Police frontman that Smith admires? "Sting used to be an English teacher, I'm a word whore, so when he writes lyrics they tend to be lyrical, they tend to create a box of imagery that he pulls right out literature most times," he says. There's another reason why Smith now feels like he can declare his admiration, too. "I'm married, so I don't have to worry about getting laid, but this is the kind of thing that derails a dude: huge Sting fan."
