Hannah Georgas Dedicates Song to Mother at Juno Fest

Even though Hannah Georgas is nominated for a Juno for both New Artist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year tonight (March 27), she seemed at ease and glowed through her JunoFest performance at the Drake Hotel last night in Toronto.

After playing 'Chit Chat' and 'Lovers Breakdown' from her latest album, 'This is Good,' the Vancouver-based singer-songwriter told the crowd that she had just come from the Juno gala dinner, where the majority of the Junos are awarded (her categories, however, will be handed at the televised ceremony at the Air Canada Centre later tonight).

"It's extra special to be celebrating the Juno week," she said. "The dinner was kind of surreal and amazing!"

Georgas and her band then slowly went into 'Thick Skin' before hitting the album's title track and 'Bang Bang You're Dead.' The outfit gained confidence with each passing number, though the Georgas easily command the most attention with her pretty melodies and fiery spirit. She even managed to convince the enamored audience to wish her drummer a happy birthday before moving on to 'Your Ghost.'

After giving a shout-out to her friend Shad for taking Rap Recording of the Year for 'TSOL' at the Juno dinner earlier, she dedicated a song to her mother who was in attendance. The song, titled 'Ode to Mom,' was in memory of her father who passed away a few years ago. Georgas then launched into several new songs, including one that she seemed to smirk through, likely because it was about "getting some" and her mom was there.

The highlight of her hour-long set had to be the funny comments she made to the crowd towards the end: "I'm wearing Spanx tonight!" she admitted. "I didn't even know what Spanx were before tonight."
