The front-page piece, "As poverty rises in NJ, cuts target aid," criticized politicians who aim to curtail government spending by reducing funds for the poor and families. "The article is one of the few that highlights the contradictions between a policy of large tax cuts, on the one hand," Springsteen said in the letter, "and cuts in services to those in the most dire conditions, on the other."
Springsteen also praised the paper's focus on aid workers who provide "real information and actual facts about what is happening below the poverty line" and giving a voice to those "in our current climate are having a hard time being heard, not just in New Jersey, but nationally." After saying how proud he is to see his hometown publication working on issues he holds so dear, the 61-year-old rocker signs off simply with "Bruce Springsteen. COLTS NECK."

countless hours to make a success of himself and earns eventually a good living not by drowning himself in the suds but by
rolling up his sleeves, studing and raising a family. he
has catered to the low end of society.
