G. Love, is known for his brand of hip-hop-infused blues and for his great backing band Special Sauce. Now, the man who discovered Jack Johnson has bone back to more traditional blues on his new solo album, 'Fixin' to Die.' Spinner sat down with G. Love at SXSW to discuss why he wanted to get away from his signature sound and how some of the new songs go back more than 20 years.
"I really wanted to kind of go back to my roots as a delta-blues player and a coffee shop musician, so for me it was kind of a second chance to make another first record," G. Love tells Spinner. "It's really a record I've been trying to make for the past 20 years, you know, taking it back to the kind of music I was playing kind of before I became G. Love."
