NME reports that the 'David Bowie Vs KCRW Golden Years' EP will be released on June 6 and feature, in addition to the 'Golden Years' single, four remixes by KCRW DJs Jeremy Sole, Anthony Valadez, Eric J Lawrence and Chris Douridas, respectively. Given the KCRW-centric nature of this release, it should come as no wonder that the revered radio station is currently streaming a preview of the EP online. Yeah, OK -- so it's more like a KCRW release than a proper Bowie release, per-se, but still.
The related iPhone app will let fans try their own hand at remixing 'Golden Years.' Perhaps more exciting than the actual EP, the app was created by Harry Maslin, who produced Bowie's 1976 'Station to Station' album, which featured 'Golden Years' as its shining star. Originally recorded in Los Angeles, the album itself was recently remastered, prompting the L.A.-based KCRW to remix its lead single.
Like we said, it's not much -- but it's something. So we'll take it!
