According to an article in The Sun, the legendary singer has Billy Joel, Kiss and the Cure on board for the as-yet-untitled album, with son James McCartney collaborating with the Cure on one song.
"James was over the moon at playing with the Cure," a source told The Sun. "He's always been a big fan. They all went into a studio in Sussex and hung out together. Over the years Robert Smith and Macca's paths have crossed countless times and he is chuffed having the Cure pay tribute to him."
McCartney's official site makes no mention of the project nor have any of the other artists named confirmed their role in the album.
Earlier this month, McCartney announced three South American dates set for May as part of his 'Up and Coming' tour.
In September, the New York City Ballet will perform an orchestral worked called 'Ocean's Kingdom' written by the former Beatle, who released his last studio album, 'Memory Almost Full,' in 2007.
