The band headline the Pyramid stage on Friday, June 24 at the festival and have expressed their desire to make the show big on production values.
In an interview with Q magazine (via Contactmusic) bassist Adam Clayton said the performance is going to be like "Glastonbury on steroids" as the typically laid-back, down-to-earth festival starts off with a bang.
"It's very un-Glastonbury to have a big production," he said, "but we will be sneaking a few things in through the back gate which will hopefully make the experience a little more like Glastonbury on steroids.
"We're stretching the levels of what can be done. We hope to create a mind-blowing experience that reacts well with all the other substances involved."
U2 -- who play this year after cancelling their 2010 performance due to Bono's back injury -- are joined by fellow headliners Coldplay and Beyonce, as well as bands including Queens of the Stone Age, Elbow and Primal Scream.
