A key ingredient of the 'Unstaged' series is to pair bands with big-name directors. While Arcade Fire's show was directed by Terry Gilliam, Academy Award-nominated director Todd Haynes will film My Morning Jacket's edition. Previous episodes of 'Unstaged' saw Duran Duran paired with David Lynch, and John Legend and the Roots with Spike Lee.
The event will be filmed live from My Morning Jacket's hometown of Louisville, Ky. at the Palace Theatre, where the band will be celebrating the same-day release of their new album, 'Circuital.' Haynes tells the New York Times that he's never actually filmed a live concert before, "or live television, or a live broadcast of any kind." But he has worked with My Morning Jacket's ringleader, Jim James, before -- James appears in Haynes' Academy Award-nominated film 'I'm Not There,' with Calexico backing him on a cover of Bob Dylan's 'Goin' to Acapulco.'
'Unstaged' featuring My Morning Jacket will stream live on the band's VEVO page on YouTube on May 31 beginning at 9PM ET. This event is BYOB so stock your fridge.
