The news has provoked fury from the family of the late actor who fell from a balcony during a party in Whitechapel, East London, in December 2006, which Doherty also attended. The 30-year-old died the day after the fall as result of head injuries. Doherty has denied any involvement in his death.
As previously reported by Spinner, Doherty voluntarily spoke with police investigating the incident in February. Now the CPS has announced that a lack of evidence has failed to yield a possible prosecution as what triggered the fall remains unclear.
The CPS's Jenny Hopkins said, via the Guardian, "None of the evidence is capable of establishing to the required standard that Mr. Blanco was thrown or pushed from the balcony or that any other individual was present at the time he fell.
"As we can neither establish that a criminal act may have taken place nor identify the likely perpetrator, we must conclude there is insufficient evidence to support a charge of murder or manslaughter. If any further evidence does come to light, we will, of course, review our decision in accordance with our normal practices.
"We have met the family of Mr. Blanco today to explain our decision to them and we would like to extend our sympathies to them on their loss."
For their part, the family of Mr. Blanco have vowed to pursue private proceedings.

One day they'll roll this trainwreck of a human being out of some seedy hotel feet first in a body bag. Until then he'll continue to give the law, and society in general, the finger. Total indifference to ANYBODY except himself.

Can you see trump in a debate with President Obama???
The donald turned to green cheese at teh white house dinner!!!
He looked so pissed but now he has nothing to say!!!
jb - I don't blame him for being pissed. After all, Obama took full advantage of the fact that he was the one with the microphone. No matter how inappropriate Obama's tirade was, Trump could do nothing but sit and listen to his nonsense. His only other alternatives were to respond back to Obama from the floor, or stand up and walk out. Either way he would've looked like a spoiled sport who could dish it out but not take it. Personally, I think he handled it quite well, even smiling at a few of Obama's "jokes."

May 13 2011 at 12:27 AM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down ReplyHis mom is angry with the police for several reasons: When the police went to the scene, they did nothing to investigate to see if a crime had been committed; they didn't secure the scene, as his mother found some of his personal items laying around the area. 3 wks after Marc's death, one of the guys who hit him confessed to 'punching and pushing Marc' but instead of pursuing his statement, they sent him to a mental hospital. Cops said they think Marc either attempted suicide, or tried to jump from the balcony to a nearby lamppost, which is out of character for him. Marc's mom had a PI to do some work, and he found a neighbor who said that he had heard a scuffle in the stairwell followed by a 'loud shocking thud.' A security firm told Marc's mom that if he had intentionally jumped, he should have injuries to his legs and there were none. His injuries were massive head wounds, a broken shoulder, and several broken ribs. Then there's the video tape - it shows him falling but not doing anything to defend himself or stop the fall; no movement at all so it leads to the theory that he was already dead before going over the rails. A recreation of the accident was done by experts do not show that his injuries are consistent with an accidental or suicide fall.

May 13 2011 at 12:11 AM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down ReplyWell, Haystack, I'd rather hear his "liberal" views than those of the so-called "conservatives", who are nothing more than a bunch of greedy, self-righteous hypocrites who are trying to turn our democracy into a theocracy..... .
May 12 2011 at 9:58 PM Report abuse Permalink -1 rate up rate down Replyrepairguy - While I do agree with some of your comments I'm beginning to realize that our entire government is at fault, especially after watching the documentary Inside Job. I was absolutely furious as I watched interviews with the men who were responsible for the 2008 financial crisis. Although the corrupt CEO's of our top five banking institutions were mainly to blame, none of this would have happened if our Congress hadn't decided that deregulation was actually a good idea. Now, the only question I have is, after spending billions of dollars in bailout money, why would Obama then reward two of these losers by appointing them as Treasury Secretary and head of the Federal Reserve? Their greediness almost caused their own companies to go bankrupt and now they're responsible for handling our government's money? Let's just hope that there are now regulations in place that will prevent these idiots from causing our COUNTRY to go bankrupt!
