Stephen Malkmus' Beck-Produced 'Mirror Traffic' Due This Summer

Have you been wallowing in Pavement withdrawal since their much-hyped reunion tour ended? Well, Matador has some news that means you can stop wiping your tears on your faded flannel shirt: frontman Stephen Malkmus is returning with a new album with his band the Jicks this summer.

Produced by Beck, 'Mirror Magic' is Malkmus' first album with the Jicks since 2008's 'Real Emotional Trash' and is due Aug. 23. So far, details of the record are scant, save for that it will be the last Jicks record to feature drummer Janet Weiss, who is now beating the skins in Wild Flag with former Sleater-Kinney bandmate Carrie Brownstein.

A tour, with Jake Morris of the Joggers handling drumming duties, is planned but no dates have been announced yet. Matador also promises that a song from the album will be released soon.
