Sum 41 Release Video of Deryck Whibley Following His Collapse Onstage In Japan

Sum 41's Deryck Whibley and Japan don't seem to go well together of late. The band -- reportedly the first international act to play Sendai, Japan following the country's devastating earthquake and tsunami in March -- performed last week (May 18) in Sapporo in support of their 'Screaming Bloody Murder' album when Whibley apparently collapsed on stage.

"Deryck collapses halfway through the show and is carried backstage," states a clip which the band has posted on their YouTube channel. The video (starting around the 55 second mark) shows Whibley lying on the dressing room floor in obvious discomfort.

"My knees were quivering and I couldn't stand," Whibley can be heard saying. "I don't know what happened, I never had that feeling."

"We came backstage and Deryck passed out or fainted," Steve Jocz says backstage while Whibley gets to his knees and slowly recovers. The show was apparently delayed for a period of time before the group carried on with the concert and played a longer than usual set for waiting fans.

"Sapporo was kickass...thanks for being so patient and awesome last night," Jocz said via Twitter following the concert.

Whibley's collapse comes after the singer was attacked last August in Japan at a bar by three people while Sum 41 were on tour. The attack resulted in the singer who was formerly married to Avril Lavigne being hospitalized and diagnosed with a slipped disc in his back.

Sum 41 continue their Japanese tour this week with shows in Fukuoka, Osaka and Tokyo, a trek which celebrates the band's 10th anniversary of touring the country.

These people disgust me. RIght away accusing him of drug use and just speaking bullcrap. This isn't about whether you know the band, but rather just a musician who truly cares for his fans and takes a kit of pride in his music.

I love Sum 41. Greatest pop punk band. Great musicianship was shown by Deryck Whibley

Yes people..this is amazing..but I'VE NEVER HEARD OF THEM!! But then again..I don't pay attention to todays music. Why?..Two reasons..I'm getting older and IT SUCKS! I'd like to see someone come up with one song they made in 50 years. Even the kids nowadays have hear of the Beatles!
