The Darkness Announce World Tour and Album for 2012

Yui Mok, PA

The Darkness have announced they are planning a world tour in 2012. The reformed band's frontman Justin Hawkins also revealed that a new album was on the way.

Talking to Q magazine, he said, "There'll probably be a Darkness album in 2012, but somehow we'll get new music out before then. A UK tour at the end of that year and then the world. Again."

The band announced their comeback earlier this year following a five-year break and will headline the Download festival in June.

The Darkness are also set to play a host of warm-up gigs, including Norwich Waterfront on June 5, Leamington Spa Assembly on June 6 and London's Shepherd's Bush Empire on June 8.

Rock festival Download, meanwhile, takes place June 10-12 and features headliners Def Leppard, System of a Down and Linkin Park.

The Darkness reunion sees the original line-up back together -- brothers Justin and Dan Hawkins, bassist Frankie Poullain and drummer Ed Graham.

You're all children. The Darkness was at the forefront of a classic-rock resurgence in the early 2000s along with bands like Wolfmother and Eagles of Death Metal. In the midst of an avalanche of shite of the likes of Limp Bizkit and Insane Clown Posse, the Darkness brought back good old rock and roll and a certain amount of virtuosity, something sorely lacking in today's popular music. Give 'em a wiki and then fire up "Permission to Land" via iTunes and if you still don't like them, then you're just too young to understand, I guess.

They should tour with Brittiany Spears. Neither group has to worry abourt being upstaged.

Actually, I have heard of them. They were a hair metal band about 15 years too late. And they suck.
