The British singer pulled out of a show in Salt Lake City on May 29 at short notice, before postponing gigs in Vancouver, Seattle and Portland. Her tour is set to resume in San Francisco on June 4.
Adele's website explains that she cancelled a show in Minneapolis last week after she lost her voice and failed to complete a sound check, and then struggled through a Saturday night show in Denver.
In a blog post, Adele wrote, "I hate to cancel, especially at such short notice. I am truly devastated. I'm here in the city and tried to do sound check at the venue, but if I push through it tonight, it'll take me longer to get better and more shows may need cancelling. Please forgive me!"
A message on the site picks up the story, saying, "Adele performed on Saturday evening in Denver, which proved too early a return to the stage. Adele's show last Sunday evening in Salt Lake City, Utah, was postponed last minute when her illness worsened."
The Minneapolis gig has already been rescheduled and US fans are advised to watch out for news on further dates.
