According to a report on Digital Spy, the track is called 'Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall' and will be the first taster of Coldplay's fifth, yet-to-be-titled album.
Writing on the band's website, drummer Will Champion said, "We're about to play a bunch of summer festivals so it's as good a time as any to put out a new song. 'Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall' will be available digitally on Friday, June 3 at 12PM (BST), except in the UK where it'll come out on the stroke of midnight between Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5."
He added, "We'll also stream it here on Friday and give it a run out at Rock Im Park."
A brief statement on Coldplay's official Twitter site reads, "Enough teasing ... we have a new song called Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall. Hear it on Friday."
Coldplay have also posted the lyrics of the song, part of which read, "I turn the music up, I got my records on / From underneath the rubble sing a rebel song / Don't want to see another generation drop / I'd rather be a comma than a full stop."
