As yet, it is unknown whether the track will appear on their forthcoming fifth album, which has been 18 months in the making under the supervision of producer Brian Eno.
Available to download around the world now -- with the exception of the UK, where it will be available on Sunday, June 5 -- the uptempo song features a typical Coldplay crescendo and the keyboard skills of Eno.
With its opening synth hook reminiscent of Underworld's 'Born Slippy' and the kind of euphoric chorus that will no doubt prompt numerous dance-orientated remixes, 'Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall' could become this year's summer anthem.
Fans will be able to judge how the new song stacks up against Coldplay's previous hits when the band take to the stage at Glastonbury later this month and Scotland's T in the Park in July.
Decide for yourself by listening to the track below.
