Organisers were no doubt keen to avoid a repeat of the scenes that made the headlines at the singer's 2009 Coachella set when the outspoken vegetarian stormed off stage after smelling cooked meat in the air.
A statement on the festival's official website reads, "The Lokerse Feesten have had their eye on Morrissey for a very long time. For this edition we finally managed to get him over and we are very pleased about this. Further to that, the addition of Morrissey to the line-up meant a welcomed catering challenge for one day."
The statement concludes, "As more and more people are introducing veggie days in their diet, we considered one meatless day out of 10 Lokerse Feesten days a healthy break for all. Our food stalls will be serving you an array of healthy vegetarian dishes."
For organisers, no gesture was too big to ensure they got their man. The festival said, "For years we dreamed of this. Many months we worked on it. For weeks we waited for an answer. Many nights were spent sleepless."

If an animal is a meat eater, it has eyes on the front of its head. If it has its eyes on the side of its head, it gets eaten. There are very few exceptions!
Maybe they should allow meat and ban Morrissey?

He's a typically arrogant 'celebrity' tosspot . I could suggest where to put the horse meat sausages during his performance !
Not that i would bother to pay to see such a tosser as Morrisey, if i were to be there, i would tell him to go f**k himself, and ram a large infected cucumber up his pretentious a**e!

These vegans insist that because they don't eat meat nor should you! My son's wife would not last 5 minutes with me, I would soon have her selfish a--- out of the door. What the buggars fail to understand is if you get rid of all the cattle, sheep, pigs, chickens soon the countryside would revert back to a wilderness not to mention the mass unemployment of the millions who work in the food industry and the farmers I watched them prepare thier vegan dinner once, a revolting green mess on a plate. meanwhile I took great pleasure in chewing away on my delicious marinated pork spare rib in front of her tight mean vicious little face

I highly doubt it to be in the millons... Do you have a source for that number? Much of the industry is run by pesticides, hormones, antibiotics, and machines. It doesn't take many people to run a factory farm or a slaughter house. For two, farms that supply commercial meat to grocery stores and such are not found in the country side.... The countryside was pretty and plentiful with grazing animals. Cows, pigs, and chickens do not roam free. They are kept in tight quarters in long barns and need sewage treatment plants to accommodate the large masses of waste. Just take a trip to west Michigan or Georgia. I would suggest you view the film Food Inc. for a clearer understanding or perhaps the Future of Food.

Depends where in the supply chain you consider the 'meat industry'. In addition to farmers directly, there are producers of cattle wagons and their equipment, vets and their equipment suppliers, artificial insemination practitioners and their equipment, abatoirs and their equipment manufacturers, butchers and their equipment. Cattle crush manufacturers, ear tag makers, knacker men (there are casualties) arable farming supports meat farming so manufacturers, maintainers and repairers of combines, tractors, silos, trailers et al. All in all more than you think!
