Killers to Prep for Hyde Park Gig with Intimate Warm Up Shows

The Killers are set for a week of contrasts in London next week, at least in terms of the size of their gigs. The Las Vegas band will perform for around 50,000 people on Friday night, as the opening night headliners of Hyde Park's Hard Rock Calling festival. Prior to that set, however, Brandon Flowers and his group will warm up in front of a crowd 50 times smaller, with a pair of newly announced performances in the considerably cozier surroundings of Kings Cross' Scala.

The two shows, the Killers' first UK dates in almost two years, will take place on June 22 and 23, the NME reports. The 'Mr. Brightside' rockers return to British shores as they begin work on composing songs for fourth studio album. They have been on hiatus since the release of 2009's 'Day and Age', with frontman Flowers keeping busy by issuing a solo effort, 'Flamingo,' during the time off from his day job.

The Killers will be joined at Hard Rock Calling on Friday by their near-namesakes the Kills, who headline the second stage, Kaiser Chiefs and James. Bon Jovi and Rod Stewart top the bill on Saturday and Sunday.
