Glasvegas Singer Gives Up Cocaine Under Orders From His Mom

The Glaswegian singer cut a predictably decadent and drug-addled figure following the release of his band's much-hyped debut album. Now, thanks to Ma Allan's disapproval, the perennially sunglasses-clad singer says he's back on the straight and narrow.
"My mum was going to kill me," he told the NME. "I had to speak to her about the way I'd been living. Only after that could things move forwards."
"Rock 'n' roll and selling records are not worth it for me if my mum's upset," the 'Daddy's Gone' vocalist continued. "She comes before anything, rock 'n' roll included. So I don't take cocaine now. Even the thought of anything going up my nose makes me sick."
Not that Allan has completely abandoned his enthusiasm for hackneyed rock god behaviour -- he's apparently taken up residence in a five-star hotel in his hometown.
"When I come back to Glasgow, I live in a hotel full-time," he revealed. "It is a bizarre existence, but the good thing is I don't allow myself to be deceived into living any kind of normal existence."

June 20 2011 at 5:58 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI know from 44 years expierience that one cannot be made to give up any mind altering substance, you have to want it so bad you can taste sobriety, I did about 15 detox's and 1 30 day stint in rehab and that didn't make up my mind ,I ended up in the hospital emergency room on a stretcher and had 3 different doctors tell me I wouldn't make it through the night, I knew in my heart I wasn't going to die but promised my daughter and brother I'd quit if I did in deed live through the night, that was 6 1/2 years ago..........it can be done BUT you have to want it deep in your heart.............

And I am 18! There was the story about The Boss' saxophonist, and what that twig from Oasis said about Bob Dylan (which is musically sacreligious!) but outside of that, I really don't know who most of these people are, why bother talking about them, he will be blowing in a weak again anyway!
