A few days before Clemons' actual death -- but after he suffered the severe stroke which eventually killed him -- pop superstar Lady Gaga released a video for her track 'The Edge of Glory,' featuring Clemons on saxophone. Clemons is seen in the video sitting on a stoop next to Gaga as he blows the instrument that, in rock 'n' roll circles, he became nearly synonymous with.
The video first premiered on Fox's television series 'So You Think You Can Dance?' on Thursday (June 16) and the ill-fated -- or else, perhaps, glorious -- timing has turned what would've been a hit video anyway into a true viral sensation. Among his many, many lifelong accomplishments, let it also be said the Clemons just got a nation of die-hard Springsteen fans to sit down and watch a complete Lady Gaga video. Way to go, Big Man.

Theres much more to GaGa than meets the eye, folks ! Let,s see........ 25 yrs.old, 5 grammy awards, 3 British Music awards, brought down the house at the Bill & Hillary Clinton Library Foundation Concert, performed & played piano with Sir Elton John, sang a marvelous jazz duet with Tony Benett, performed for the Queen of England, brought Howard Stern to tears ( imagine that ) when she played the piano,s acoustic version of " Edge of Glory " live in his studio, and also this ironic video with the late great sax man, Clarence Clemons and, most recently , she,s dropping the New Yrs. Eve Ball with Mayor Bllomberg, at his request. Whew !! This lady,s got it goin on, just like her new book factually states, " The Rise & Rise of Lady GaGa". I am a middle aged guy who personally witnessed the rise of The Beatles, The Stones, Zepplin, Journey. Fleetwood Mac & even Madonna,,& have greatly appreciated the top notch quality that these performers gave to my ears, my eyes & my heart through the decades past. For yrs., we have been hearing that Rock is dead, I like to believe that rock is only half dead. Never the less, rejeuvenation is occurring in ( quality music ) again, thankfully for the mind, imagination & song writing of one, NYC, Italian American girl, Lady GaGA. In closing, Congradulations to GaGa for winning her 6th Grammy in Feb. 2012. How do I know that, a month before hand, lol, it,s easy, because GaGa,,,, is simply & completley the BEST !!!

Lady Gaga has all the right moves and she is sexy too boot -- men and women will love looking at her. Magnificent performance; drumming; sound; lights; everything perfect and of course the legendary Clarence Clemons who in his own right deserves to be on stage with all the other superstars. What a legacy to be remembered by -- lady gaga asking him to be in her video I bet he was beaming and had the time of his life -- here's to Clarence and Lady Gaga -- she is truly a great inspiration and makes me feel young again.

She is far better than Madonna ever was. But, I respect her work musically and I respect her devotion to people and causes. I think she is amazing and I am 55 years old.

The video is simple, because it is Gaga's tribute to a great man. No pyrotecnics, no special effects. Just Stephanie doing a the dance of life around Clarence Clemons in one of his last appearances on this earth. In retrospect, this is a remarkable song and video that functions on many dimensions.
June 20 2011 at 5:10 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI recommend everyone watch Gaga's Google interview, where at 51:42 she explains why she wrote Edge of Glory. Its about impending death. This song and video is a tribute to Clarence Clemons, written almost as prophecy. She must have sensed something. Gaga states Edge of Glory is about " the moment right before you leave the earth." Not long after making this song and video with Gaga, Clemons left this earth. We see him here, on the edge of glory.

In case you critics are forgetting, everyone has copied someone. If she did some generic music video that went with the rest of the mainstream, you would either praise her for her vocals, or rip her apart for something else. If she does something creative or outrageous, you'll say she's copying someone. There's just no satisfying everyone. Just shut up and enjoy a person's hard work.
June 20 2011 at 4:22 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyBoring video, She is not creative unless she is copying someone else. She is a blatant rip off of Dale Bozzio from Missing Persons
