In 1999, lead singer Chris Barron was diagnosed with a rare form of vocal cord paralysis that left him virtually speechless. Unable to talk, let alone sing -- and faced with a coin-toss chance of ever getting his voice back -- he dropped out of the band. The Spin Doctors were put on the disabled list, where they remained for some time, regrouping for occasional one-offs and special occasions.
But now, in celebration of the 20th anniversary of their crowning achievement, 'Pocketful of Kryptonite,' the Spin Doctors are, indeed, staging a comeback. The album will get the double-deluxe-bonus-remastered treatment for its August 30 rerelease and Jambands.com reports that the band plans to spend much of the rest of the year touring the U.S. Welcome back, fellas.
