And so, it was only a matter of time before their blogosphere-fueled success was publicly challenged. According to the website Exclaim.ca, that's exactly what a US women's rights group plans to do, at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago where Odd Future is scheduled to perform on July 17. The group, Between Friends, plans to peacefully protest by distributing 5,000 hand fans containing information and resources aimed to counter violence against women.
Odd Future's lyrics are no walk in the park -- and are often outright inexcusable -- but perhaps Between Friends can take some solace in knowing that women aren't the only group of people Odd Future have taken aim at: they've repeatedly used gay slurs (though they claim they're not homophobic) and Tyler, the Creator once rapped about stabbing Bruno Mars in his esophagus. But they do seem to enjoy smoking weed (though Tyler abstains) and "violent sex." Go figure.

Yeah, and Tyler doesn't do drugs or drink alcohol, because he thinks it's stupid. Horrible article. Do some research before you write stuff
June 29 2011 at 11:48 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyDamn you're stupid. First of all, Odd Future and Bieber are mad cool. They all follow each other on Twitter and have hanged out before. Second, where the hell did you figure that they hate Wiz Khalifa? The hell? And 3rd, how are they homophobes. Because they say it in lyrics? He's constantly said he's not homophobic and was even happy for the new law in NY that gays can marry. Damn you're stupid and ignorant
June 29 2011 at 11:47 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWow this article is ignorant. They don't hate gays. Tyler has said again and again that he has nothing against gays, he just likes using the word fag**t because it pisses people like you off. They don't hate Justin Bieber. There are pictures of Tyler hanging out with Justin Bieber, and Tyler compliments him all the time. They don't hate Wiz Khalifa. Ignorant writers like you made that up by misinterpreting their lyrics. Again, Tyler says all the time that he has no problem with Wiz Khalifa. And they certainly don't hate women. Have any of them been arrested for actually doing something violent to women? No. And if you listen to the song Radicals, Tyler says that his lyrics are FICTION and he does not encourage anyone to do the things that they talk about. They aren't rapists, homophobes, murderers, psychopaths, or misogynists. They are kids that are living out their dreams, and it's a shame that people won't leave them alone. Ever since I can remember, I was taught: "Sticks and Stones can break my bones, but words will never hurt me." When these kids actually rape or beat a woman, then protest all you want. But until then, just let them be kids. And also, Tyler does not do drugs. Some of the group members may, but that doesn't make them all drug addicts. Millions of musicians have drug addictions, so stop pin pointing these kids.
June 29 2011 at 9:46 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replyif you actually did your research , tyler the creator complements justin beiber in a youtube vudeo saying he has the voice of an angel, why does everyone see only the bad side of this group. There rhymes are comedic and not to be taken seriously there changing the image of the streets in hip hop. Before Odd future everything was so serious these guys take the negativity and made it comedic , laughable something for people to enjoy. Why is it that journalist yourself tend to want to give rappers a bad name without seeing the whole truth, I am not trying to be disrespectfull but all reporters should see the good , the bad and the ugly. There rhymes are a lil crazy but they are progressing they are young , they have a wondefull artist named "frank Ocean" who sheds light on his team. Look up "we all try" he tried to say even though his team has lost all faith , they must believe in something ! . There are a group with a whole lotta love in their circle and they support each other.
