For his part, Doherty has already admitted to smashing the shop's window but claims to have no recollection of the event on account of being drunk. The stolen goods were later recovered in Regensburg's main square.
Doherty had been staying in the German town while filming his role in the film, 'Confessions of a Young Contemporary.' He was starring alongside singer-actress Charlotte Gainsbourg where he played the French novelist and poet Alfred de Musset.
As previously reported by Spinner, Doherty is currently serving a six-month prison sentence for cocaine possession. He was arrested by police investigating the fatal drug overdose of heiress and film maker Robyn Whitehead, who had been attempting to make a documentary on the singer.
He could now face five years in a German prison if convicted of the theft and breaking and entering charges.
